The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Dr. Joseph Wazen is a fellowship trained, board eligible orthopedic surgeon, who specializes in sports medicine. His interests include complex hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, as well as knee and shoulder replacements.
Dr. Wazen was born and raised in the greater New York City area. He completed his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then dedicated a year to research at Columbia University in New York City, where he performed and published multiple studies. Dr. Wazen went on to receive his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He subsequently completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During residency, Dr. Wazen had the privilege to train at esteemed institutions including Johns Hopkins, University of Pennsylvania, and Jefferson hospitals.
Following residency, Dr. Wazen completed his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Orlando Health under the direction of world-renowned sports surgeon, Dr. Bruce Levy. During fellowship, Dr. Wazen served as the assistant team physician for the University of Central Florida Division I football, basketball, baseball, and softball teams.
Dr. Wazen is dedicated to helping his patients achieve their goals through surgical and non-surgical approaches. From sport related injuries to degenerative joint disease, Dr. Wazen will take the time to explain your diagnosis and treatment options. Together, you will formulate a plan that best suits you and your goals.
In his free time, Dr. Wazen enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, hiking, playing the drums, and staying up to date on the latest orthopedic literature.
